Join Showtime for our annual outdoor screenings! Every year, Showtime welcomes new and returning students with an outdoor screening and fun movie-related activities by Main Mall. Join Showtime in collaboration with Creative Arts + Theater for their annual Halloween Tradition: The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Shadowcast at Hogg Memorial Auditorium. UT students are encouraged to dress up and participate in this risqué show of dark fun and enlightenment. Join Showtime for our greatest annual event, TUFF! UT students have the opportunity to submit short films for opportunities to win film goodies and festival badges for SXSW, the Austin Film Festival, and Fantastic Fest. Select films will be chosen for screening and judging by a panel of judges prominent in the Austin film community. All students are welcome for the screening! Join Showtime this annual Family Week for a special, family-friendly screening at the Union Theater! Every year, we celebrate the UT extended community by planning a movie screening sure to bring out one's inner child. Free, fun concessions and activities are provided for all those who attend. One of the biggest perks of keeping up with Showtime has to be the several free advanced movie screening opportunities we provide throughout the year! In collaboration with film companies and organizations, including Universal Pictures and Prime Video, Showtime lets UT students view blockbuster films early in advance, with free merch and concessions offered on a first come first serve basis. Make sure to regularly check our Instagram for advanced screening opportunities, and don't spoil the movies afterwards!Weekly Movie Screenings
Of course, Showtime wouldn't be Showtime without our weekly, free film screenings. Every Thursday, at 6PM and 9PM, we show blockbuster films straight out of the movie theater. Every other Wednesday at 8PM, we show late-night fan-favorite films that are sure to make you nostalgic. Screenings are always held at the Union Theater, unless otherwise noted, and doors to the theater open 30 minutes before screenings. Grab a friend or two, bring your own dinner/snacks, and have that UT ID ready to scan at the door for a chance to watch free films every week!
